This annual tour highlights the incredible school garden programs growing across the city and creates space for schools, educators, and community partners to learn from one another, exchange best practices, and build meaningful connections that strengthen Newark’s school garden network.

As the Newark Network of School Gardens continues to grow, collaboration and shared learning are more important than ever. The Newark Grows School Gardens Tour offers a unique opportunity to visit active school gardens, see programs in action, and learn how different schools are adapting their spaces to meet the needs of their students and communities.
From innovative irrigation systems to hands-on learning experiences that support students of all abilities, each garden brings something valuable to the table. The tour is designed to inspire, inform, and support schools at every stage of their garden journey.
Schools are invited to host tour stops, share their experiences, and contribute to a growing movement that promotes food education, environmental stewardship, and wellness throughout Newark.
We are building on the success of our previous tours and invite community partners to support this year’s event. Sponsorship helps ensure the tour remains accessible while strengthening school garden programs across the city.
