Plant your own vegetable garden in one of the Plot-It-Fresh Community Gardens. Applications are now open for the 2026 Plot-It-Fresh Community Gardening program!
Sadly, at the end of 2024 we lost the Hawthorne Avenue Farm, and with it the over 200 community garden beds. To make up for this loss the Urban Agriculture team has partnered with local community gardens to create a new program that still allows community members to grow plants and produce of their own in Newark. This year in addition to our Smith Street Plot-It-Fresh site, we have partnered with Giving One Tenth, The Culture Spot, STEAM Urban/A Healing Sanctuary, Healthy Haven, and the Garden of Life, who will act as host sites for Plot-It-Fresh gardeners.

2026 Season Important Dates:
Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout February. Plots are limited. And we are prioritizing Newark residents. Only one will be assigned per household until all applications have been filled.
