Connecting Classrooms to Gardens and Gardens to Communities
Greater Newark Conservancy’s Farm-to-School program cultivates a stronger connection between students and the food they eat. Through school gardens, hands-on nutrition education, and environmental learning experiences, students gain a deeper understanding of where food comes from, how it’s grown, and why healthy choices matter.
Our goal is to foster healthy habits early, promote sustainability, and empower Newark’s next generation to become lifelong stewards of their health and environment.
We work directly with schools to integrate food education into classrooms, using gardens as powerful outdoor classrooms that support academic achievement, wellness, and youth development.

FoodCorps

Powered by Passion, Led by Youth Educators
Our partnership with FoodCorps brings dedicated service members into Newark school to teach kids about nutritious food through gardening, cooking, and hands-on lessons. These leaders inspire a love for nutritious food while helping students connect to community resources and sustainable practices.
FoodCorps members are on the ground in classrooms and school gardens, helping integrate food education into everyday learning and supporting schools in building strong, healthy food environments.
